Ok, I admit I a bit behind in my Bollywood blogging, but a bunch of new movies are coming down the pipeline so I'm Back.

Ram Gopal Varma's Aag is out playing here in NY at the Imaginasian this week. I'm still debating on seeing it. So far I'm hearing it's a flop. Sorry, but why try to remake Sholay? Not possible!

I think I'll go see Vanaja instead :P

Urmila Matondkar (remember our friend with the tummy rats from Rangeela?) has recorded a remake of Sholay's classic track Mehbooba with legendary playback singer Asha Bhonsle. The recording is supposed to be featured on Asha's upcoming album Asha And Friends. I wonder if this will be the track used on the Sholay remake? I doubt it, but that would be nice considering Urmila was rumored to be taking Helen's place in the movie. I thought Abhishek was supposed to be in that scene, maybe he can have a really high pitched voice?

I must say, Urmila has the best mid 90s hair as illustrated in this pic.

Hema Malini (who played Basanti in the original) is being openly critical about all of the remakes of classic Bollywood films.

Amitabh Bachchan who played Jai in the original will now be playing Gabbar Singh.

Radha, who was originally played by Jaya Bachchan (Bhaduri) is up for grabs. Katrina was dropped in favor for Sushmita Sen.

Urmila Matondkar will be stepping in to fill Helen's shoes as the gypsy for the Mehbooba item number. Yeah, good luck with that one, honey!
